Supervisor's motion dies in Stony Point

About a month ago, I wrote about Stony Point Town Board member Geoffrey Finn’s complaint regarding George Potanovic’s appointment to the Comprehensive Plan Committee.
Finn argued that the appointment should have been made by the Board’s vote, not by Supervisor Phil Marino’s lone decision. Finn said the meeting was illegal because it included Potanovic, who was not officially appointed.
Marino later admitted that he made a mistake, and brought the item to the March Town Board meeting.
Guess what happened there: When Marino made a motion to appoint Potanovic to the committee, no one seconded. And the motion was dead.
I’ve covered many municipal board meetings in different communities, but this was the first time to see a motion that failed because no one seconded.
I’m still thinking what this incident really means. I’d appreciate if someone can explain it to me.

Silence3 speaks louder than words in some instances. That's why if no one voted for a president they didnt believe in it would speak volumes. But people are selfish and rather just pick one of the 2.
