Haverstraw candidate’s voter registration in question

September
5

Haverstraw police have reported to the county Board of Elections that Haverstraw village mayoral candidate Craig Jackson does not live at the address that he reported for his voter registration. The same address0 also was listed as his residence on his petitions to run for mayor.

The police report became available under a Freedom of Information Act request, but the name of the person who requested the investigation was withheld to protect that person’s privacy, Elections Commissioner Ann Marie Kelly said.

Kelly said that because Jackson already was listed on the primary ballot, he was a valid candidate. But she said his right to vote in the village primary would have to be determined. I’ll be checking with her later about her decision.

Jackson has filed a $7 million civil rights complaint against the village and Haverstraw town, arguing that his right to run for office had been violated through intimidation and harassment.

unreal. so now why would anyone want to vote for someone that is suing the town and going to cost them town dollars for a lawsuit. WE need to go back to frivolous lawsuits where the loser pays. This way people will think twice before suing over something stupid!

Craig Jackson, if you read this blog, I want you to know that I live in the Village of Haverstraw, and I do not plan on voting for you at all.

I’m sorry, but you’re acting just like Ricky Sanchez, and suing over nothing. The BOE has a right to validate your address since you’re new to our Village. Then, you want to make it seem it’s because you’re Afican-American.

I’m sorry, but didn’t we already have the Civil Rights movement? If you want people to see you as a man and not for your skin color, then kindly remove the label you choose to wear.

I pick candidates based on their actions, and what they send out in literature, etc. I don’t base it on race, creed, religion, etc. So, by your actions, you’re not the candidate for this resident of the Village.

To the BOE, don’t worry, this County resident understands you’re doing things the way you’re supposed to.
