Former Karben spokesman now working for Legislature chairwoman

So I’m giving a recent Legislature press release a first read and at the top is a name I haven’t seen in awhile … at least on a press release anyway.
Aaron Troodler, former spokesman for former Assemblyman Ryan Karben, is now the new assistant to Legislature Chairwoman Harriet Cornell, D-West Nyack.
“I’m back!” he said.
After Karben resigned from the Assembly in May 2006 amid allegations of unwanted sexual advances toward a male intern, Troodler went to work as a legislative director for the Sephardic Community Federation.
Troodler started his job with the County Legislature on Thursday. His job responsibilities, he said, include researching policy questions and handling constituent matters.

Good for him. Aaron is one of the most well-respected operatives in Rockland. The legislature is lucky to have him.
Glad to see Aaron back in Rockland where he belongs. When he left Rockland to work in Brooklyn, he left a big hole that was never filled. Aaron is an intelligent guy and a class act.
Ok…no offense, but who cares?
OK … All the accolades aside … Is he a new hire ? Is he replacing someone ? Do we have more political payoffs for an aid of a fallen star ? Karben already got “take care of” by Darden in SV. Now did Troodler get “taken care of” by Cornell ? Is the merry go round continuing at our expense?
And for what it is worth, I heard Troodler speak at one legistlative meeting, and he came off as an angry young man over some real or perceived racial issue. He was a bit “over the top”, and I know at least one legislator kind of challenged or kind of gently corrected him – I think it was Day – because his comments were indicting a whole community.
To be honest, I did not see class. I saw an angry young man who was really angry or just over playing a political speech.
I wasn’t there, so I don’t know what happened, and frankly either you weren’t or you have him confused with someone else. I’ve known Troodler for a long time and have never seen him lose his temper. He is one of the most level-headed people I know. This was definitely not a political appt. Aaron has proved himself as Ryan’s chief of staff and has been sought out for numerous campaigns for his keen insight and advice. Although I don’t believe half the crap Ryan was accused of, whatever you believe should have no reflec!tion on Aaron’s abilities.
No, I was there, you were not. But let me be a bit more clear. You are correct. He did not lose his temper. He just was a bit over intense and much over the issue. He took the issue and instead of speaking directly the alleged incident and those who were involved, he went on a harangue about an entire community having an issue. That was just over emoting on his part to make a political point, and that was just not right.
As far as your buddy Ryan, if you think 1/2 of what he did is untrue, then I hope you believe that at least the other half is true. He resigned because he totally embarrassed the Assembly to a point even his co legislators from his party walked away. If you believe that one of the most aggressive politicians in memory just gave up his job with a half million in the bank to “spend time with his family” I have a river to sell you; “Da Nile”.
Frankly, I would not mind that much as he is not my rep, but Ryan’s arrogance in refusing to even speak to what happened just speaks to Ryan not being deserving of the public trust. He should be a man, acknowledge what he did, because time and again the public has shown that approach to merit their understanding and often, forgiveness. His stonewalling is worse than Nixon’s which I find completely ironic.
Ooops. Again, can someone answer my first question. Where is the money coming from for the new hiring? Frankly, all the rest doesn’t concern me all that much. My money does. If he is replacing soemone, I really don’t cared. If I am paying more for one more position on a bloated staff, I do care. A whole lot. And I don’t care how good he is or is not to be frank.
Sadly, you are clearly confused. In his last stint with the Legislature, Troodler was a legislative aide and in that0position would have never addressed the Legislature. One doesn’t need to have been there to know this is true, all one has to do is read the minutes. So whomever you heard, if you really witnessed such an incident, it was not Aaron Troodler.
As far as where the money is coming from, there are budget lines to cover this, so what’s your point?
Frankly, I don’t believe any of the allegations against Ryan. There was no evidence presented just false, unconfirmed accusations. I guess anyone can say anything today without repercussions. Karben did not need to dignify these allegations with any response, since he saw them for what they were. Why he walked away is between him and his family. He has no obligation to answer accusers who are too cowardly to substantiate false claims.
