Confused by Nyack parking changes?

February
11

In a letter to the editor yesterday, a man complained that the parking changes in Nyack have been confusing. He said he didn’t realize he had to buy a ticket at the new multi-space meters and got a parking ticket (though it was later dropped). The mayor said signs would be installed this week to clarify new parking procedures. What do you think about the parking changes in Nyack? Have you had any problems with the new system?

Thank goodness for Strawberry Place! Last week was my first time in Nyack since the change. I found a parking meter, went to feed it and thought it was defective. When I walked to Strawberry Place, there was a sign on the door explaining the new system. So I went back and used the Muni Meter. It's not clear, however, just what the hourly fee is. I just dumped a bunch of quarters in.

Isnt it amazing how the streets dont belong to anyone anymore?
before you know it we will be charged just for walking on it.
    :-\
you would think the town taxes would pay for parking on the street. manhattan is becoming very unwelcome to people and now the 'burbs. Soon they will tells us we dont really own our houses and property. Oh wait they already have.. eminent domain handles that…
nevermind. lets just keep being sheep and pay and pay and not complain and let the towns do what they do best make sure everyone else cant go about their business.
    steps off soapbox

The easy response: Shop and/or eat elsewhere.
There are pizza parlors, restaurants all across the county.
Why spend money on parking for 5 minutes and take a chance of getting a ticket for a slice of pizza or to pick up chinese food. It makes no sense and Nyack is now solving it's parking problem: If no one comes to the village, there will be plenty of parking spots

AS a life long resident of Rockland County, I feel these new parking meter boxes are not only unnecessary, but also a deliberate eyesore to both the village residents and tourists. You want to talk about highway robbery- a dollar an hour for a ticket to place on your dashboard, not to mention to possiblity of a potential theft of your car?
Please get rid of these muni meter boxes now! This is one half baked idea that needs to be thrown in the garbage!

Nyack should have built a multi level parking garage years ago! Instead we get another row of condos and or low income housing, or buildings that have been abandoned for years.

It's time to take back Nyack! I'm hoping a blog we've just started can stir up some discussion as well…check it out….

i live in and despise this town. parking sucks and the town sucks. everyone should abandon this town and let it sink into the ground. btw most of the people are worse than the parking
