The Rockland County Legislature has now entered its summer schedule, with scaled back meetings.
There will be only two more Legislature meetings this summer, on July 1 and Aug. 5, as well as committee meetings.
Next week, legislators will host a public hearing on the 2008-2009 Rockland Community College budget with a vote to follow in August.
Legislators will return to twice-monthly meetings in September.

If you've heard about the MOLD and TOXINS in Brucker Hall at Rockland Community College, please come out and support those who have gotten ill – July 1st, 8 pm in New City (11 Hempstead Rd). RCC has known about the mold since 2000 and remediated part of the building then, but now several employees are seriously ill with mold poisoning (brain damage, respiratory diseases, etc) – we tried to share our concerns with the legislature on June 24, but the county lawyer shut us down and RCC didn't show due to fear of liability! WHAT ABOUT THE BASIC HUMAN RIGHT TO NOT GO TO WORK AND BE POISONED? PLEASE COME OUT AND SUPPORT US – YOUR TAX DOLLARS PAY FOR THIS COLLEGE TO ALLOW US TO BE PERMANENTLY ILL – IT IS NOT OK – PLEASE COME OUT AND SHOW YOUR SUPPORT FOR THE RIGHT TO WORK IN A CLEAN BLDG AND TO NOT USE HUMANS AS TEST CASES FOR WHETHER A BLDG IS "OK" OR NOT!!!! There are more than 10 workers comp cases filed. See the link – NBC TV covered our story and the Journal News has made it front page twice this week alone. EVERYONE knows someone who studied or works at RCC – come out and show your support for your teachers, staff, co-workers. AND RCC EMPLOYEES – YOU CAN"T BE FIRED OR REPRIMANDED FOR COMING TO A PUBLIC HEARING!!!! Don't let fear drive you – that is why people are sick – we are NOT afraid to speak publicly and even if you sit silently, the message speaks VOLUMES. Thank you for your support!
