Rockland judicial candidates found qualified

Two Rockland judicial screening committees have found several candidates running for judge tomorrow qualified to sit on the bench.
The panels for the Rockland Bar Association and Rockland Women’s Bar Association reviewed the credential of several candidates. Both panel released their reviews today.
The Rockland Bar Association’s Judiciary Review and Screening Committee found the following candidates qualified:
• Daniel Weisberg and Rolf Thorsen, both running for Clarkstown justice. Weissberg, a Clarkstown police lieutenant, is running on the Republican and Conservative lines. Thorsen, the law secretary to Family Court Justice William Warren, is running on the Democratic, Working Families and Independence lines. Weisberg and Thorsen are seeking to succeed Justice Joel Flick, who recently died.
• Justice Kevin Russo for West Haverstraw Justice Court. He’s running unopposed on the Democratic Party Line.
• Family Court Judge William Warren, who is running unopposed on the Democratic, Working Families, Independence and Conservative lines.
• Haverstraw Town Justice John Grant did not appear before the panel. He is running unopposed.
The Rockland County Women’s Bar Association’s Judicial Screening Committee found the following judicial candidates qualified: Thorsen, Weisberg and Kevin Russo. The appearances of Warren and Surrogate Judge Thomas Walsh were waived by the candidates. Walsh, a judge for three decades, also is running unopposed.
