Vanderhoef sets fundraiser, but re-election bid still not confirmed

December
29

C. Scott Vanderhoef will be the guest of honor during a fundraiser in his honor next month.

Vanderhoef told us today that the cocktail reception, which will take place from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Jan. 25., is indeed being held so he can raise some money for his political coffers.

But he wouldn’t say for sure if he’s going to seek a fifth term as Rockland’s County Executive.

“We’re looking at a run, but we’ll wait to make it official,” Vanderhoef said today.

Meantime, if you’re a supporter of Vanderhoef, you’re in for a tasty treat should you opt to attend the bash. Why? Namely because it will be held at Restaurant X and Bully Boy Bar, just off South Route 303 in Congers. The eatery consistently garners high marks for delicious food.

State Senator Thomas Morahan, R-New City, will serve as honorary chairman for the event. He’s the highest ranking elected GOP official in Rockland, so his support is significant.

The gathering will also feature the CSV Jazz Trio, which will be led by bass guitarist Ron Figueroa, who is a counselor with the county Department of Health, but will be playing on his own time.

The donation is $150 per person. RVSP by Jan. 19 by calling 914-552-1507 or sending checks to Friends of Scott Vanderhoef, P.O. Box 472, New City, NY 10956.

The file photo of Vanderhoef was taken by staffer Kathy Gardner. Morahan’s was taken by staffer Peter Carr.

So an employee of the county is performing gratis at a political fundraiser for his boss who happens to be the County Executive? Am I the only one who sees how suspect that is? Some would say corrupt.

Well, do not be suprised as I hear that the routine (and expected) is for his employees to pay so they can stay. This is only the tip of the iceberg. This “donation” is under the radar. Why not look at the history of donations received from county employees to Vanderhoffs election campaigns? Might be interesting.

He needs more? The 2% property tax hike and the brilliant plan for $50 red light violation “donations” won’t be enough?

Hey Second! 2% property tax increase? Whoa! Try almost 10%. Not to mention 7% from last year too.

Once again the arrogance of these professional politicians is mind boggling. At at time when people have lost their jobs and are literally fighting for their lives this clown is throwing party to raise money for his coffers.
We are struggling to keep a job, paying exorbitant property taxes, and racking our brains figuring how we are going to pay for our kids education…these knit-wits are throwing 5 star bashes with live music and no expenses spared. Are we suppossed to endear ourselves to these purpetrators of organized crime??? That is what politics have become…organized crime. You don’t think any politician will blow the whistle when it means that all his perks and high lifestyle will be ended do you?? I’m so disgusted with politics and the insulated life they live. They will tell you how it ‘pains’ them that people can’t pay their mortgages meanwhile including raises in the budget for themselves. They are so out of touch it’s ridiculous. Don’t let my words deter you…for $150 you can have top notch food..fine Jazz music..and get to rub elbows with the men & women who are taxing you into oblivion.
