County Democrats to hold convention

June
2

The Rockland County Democratic Committee will holds its 2009 nominating convention at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Clarkstown Town Hall, 10 Maple Ave. in New City.

Aimee Vargas, the committee’s executive director, said today that the main purpose of the meeting will be to show support for Orangetown town Supervisor Thom Kleiner, who is challenging incumbent C. Scott Vanderhoef, a Republican, for the county executive’s seat; and to back Paul Piperato, who is thus far unchallenged as he seeks re-election as county clerk.

Among the key Democrats expected to attend: County Democratic Committee Chairman Vincent Monte; and Democratic town chairs,  Nicole Doliner, Clarkstown; O. Fred Miller, Haverstraw; Toney Earl, Ramapo; and John Brenner, Stony Point; and Orangetown Democratic Acting Town Chair Michael Hogan.
