June
6

A Grand View (grant) writer is on the New York Times Best Seller’s list.
Of course this needs some explanation; she hasn’t written a best-selling grant, or anything like that. That would be something.

Catherine Whitney is a writer. She lives in the waterfront village and serves on the Village Board where, among other things, she is [...]

Supervisor Thom Kleiner has a challenger from one of his historically political strongholds.

Journal News/LoHud.com staff photo by Vincent DiSalvio

Take a walk down to Memorial Park in Nyack and you may see some rats or other vermin. Then again, you may not.

That’s because there are dozens of traps scattered about the park; they’re next to trash cans and lining the rocky area near the waterfront. There’s too many [...]

Quiet board meeting a rarity

April
11

No members of the public spoke.
That’s how the Orangetown Town Board report read this week. For those not familiar, it’s a basic report that the paper publishes after every meeting.
It has all of the board resolutions; most are matters that are important, but not necessarily breaking news. I take care of Orangetown’s with the [...]

Chamber chimes in on Nyack parking

February
27

Parking. Any mention of word in Nyack will get a strong reaction — it’s practically a bad word in the village. Meters, a garage, employee parking , tickets and walking — all hot topics.

The Chamber of Commerce of the Nyacks recently threw its opinion into the heated discussion. Earlier this week, the Board of Directors [...]

Caught at the red meter

February
21

Other than traffic, parking tickets are the bane of so many driver’s existence. In Nyack, it can be a particularly sensitive topic.

In case anyone was wondering, reporters aren’t immune. While sniffing around Nyack Village Hall for some news, I foolishly parked in the 15 minute zone — those red meters — directly in front of [...]

19

Some village of Nyack leaders are calling for the symbolic elimination of the “N Word and there has been no shortage of opinions on the matter.
