Oh, I-I-I wanna be a lifeguard!

April
7

OK, not me, given my phobia of deep water, but maybe you?

The Palisades Region of New York State Parks is holding Lifeguard Qualifying Exams for seasonal employment this year.

About 120 lifeguards are hired to work at pools and beaches in Rockland, Orange and Ulster counties each year.

The exams will be at 9 a.m. April 13, May 4 and May 18 (all Sundays) at the Monroe Woodbury Middle School swimming pool. You’ll have to demonstrate your swimming ability and CPR skills.

If you pass the exam and are certified in Lifeguarding, Waterfront and CPR, you’ll be eligible for one of the lifeguarding jobs.

You have to pre-register: by e-mail to Tim Larkin at Timothy.Larkin@oprhp.state.ny.us or by calling 845-786-2701 ext. 276.

Good luck!

UPDATE, 4/9:

Two more dates have been added, this time in Rockland: At noon June 8 and 9 a.m. June 27, both at the Rockland Community College Swimming Pool.
